LEAD TEACHER

Full time, 40 hours/week

This person will have insight into how preschool children learn best, how to create dynamic learning experiences for them, and how to prepare and manage a calm and inviting classroom environment. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Consistent supervision of up to 12 children
  • Preparation of the classroom environment
  • Observation and record keeping
  • Planning and implementing daily lessons for the whole class
  • Planning and implementing daily lessons for small groups, pairs, and individuals
  • Effective communication with children, families, and coworkers
  • Organization of materials
  • Diapering/assisting children with toileting
  • Cleaning of classroom


Job requirements: 

  • Availability Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:30pm
  • Associates degree or higher in early childhood education or related field preferred. Candidates with a CDA credential or who are actively working toward an associates degree in a related field will also be considered. 
  • Background screening clearance from the Department of Human Services upon hire, before beginning work with children
  • Willingness to learn about Montessori methods
  • Willingness to complete 32 hours of continuing education in first year of hire, at TLC’s expense
  • Ability to move quickly across a classroom and a playground with natural (not flat) terrain

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

​Varied hours, minimum 2 half-days per month

This person will spend time in both classrooms at least 2 mornings per month, to gain familiarity with students, staff, scheduling, and expectations, in preparation for other half- or full-days needed as a substitute teacher.

  • Consistent supervision of up to 12 children
  • Effective communication with children, families, and coworkers
  • Organization of materials
  • Diapering/assisting children with toileting
  • Cleaning of classroom


Job requirements:
